Infrared cameras translate the warmth signatures of objects into shades on a gradient scale, with higher temperatures appearing as lighter hues, and decrease temperatures and wet areas showing up as darker colours.  Also referred to as thermal imaging and thermography, IR technology captures the light that exists just outside the obvious spectrum.
